PARERA is proud to be associated with the Launch of the African Food Regulatory Authorities Forum (AFRAF) – Aiming to the contribute to the development of robust, resilient and collaborative food control systems in Africa.

This forum will be the cornerstone of the new governance of food safety on the African continent, and aims to define a program of collaborative initiatives to contribute to the development of a way forward for the harmonization and integration of African food regulations in the context of the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, and to address the common challenges faced by food authorities and the food and agri-food production sector. . This achievement has required (and continues to require) the development of partnerships with all UN agencies involved in agriculture and food: FAO, WHO, WTO, the UN Food Program, and the US government, via our collaborative program with the US DA. This gathering will include representatives from 38 African countries (out of the 50 members of the Organization of African Unity) and will take place in Cairo from October 11 to 13, 2023.
