AllerGen NCE (The Allergy, Genes and Environment Network)
The main goal of this project is to prepare guidelines for food industries on the use of PALs (such as “may contain”) as a result of cross-contamination.
This project will assess the risk of having an allergic reaction based on (1) occurrence data acquired in the PARERA platform lab for 4 priority allergens (milk, eggs, peanuts, hazelnuts), (2) consumption per occasion data from the 2015 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS-2015) and (3) available clinical data (thresholds from articles of medical trials). This study might have an impact on the use of PALs, and therefore on the amount of foodstuffs available for allergic consumers.
